Description
The overall objective of the project was to improve water supply and sanitation in Fayoum. Almost every aspect of a public water supply and sanitation had been dealt with. In Phase I, the main activities were the preparation of a master plan for the rehabilitation, extension of drinking water and wastewater treatment systems, and more effective staff performance. While in Phase II, the focus was on the reorganization of the utility company FEGAWS. In Phase III, an Economic Management Plan (EMP) had been elaborated. Phase IV aimed at consolidating the achievements of the previous phases. FEGAWS served 95% of the population through 275,000 house connections and 1,850 public taps.
