The North South Consultants Exchange (NSCE) TRUSTyFOOD Team explored the potential of blockchain at the Sahara Expo & the Agritech Expo in Cairo. At the leading platform for knowledge sharing on crop management, agri-tech, and irrigation systems in Africa and the Middle East, NSCE had a chance to network with industry leaders, decision-makers and innovators from Egypt, Africa and beyond! The Sahara International Agricultural Exhibition ran from September 15 to 17. At the 1st edition of the International Forum and Fair for Smart and Green Agriculture from October 28 to 30, the NSCE TRUSTyFOOD Communication Expert took the stage to present the project.

With more than 200 exhibitors and 20,000 visitors over three action-packed days, NSCE explored the potential of blockchain solutions to enhance transparency and efficiency in the agri-food sector. The Sahara Expo gave us an opportunity to connect with crop farmers, distributors, manufacturers and policymakers who are passionate about “harvesting innovation for a brighter tomorrow” in the spirit of the exhibition slogan. Through insightful conferences, hands-on demonstrations, and fruitful discussions, we strengthened our mission of revolutionising the agri-food value chain.

Project: TRUSTyFOOD

This year, NSCE was also part of the Agritech Expo, where industry leaders come together to explore innovation in agriculture and technology. Our contribution centred around the visualising the TRUSTyFOOD project as a hub for engaging blockchain technology. Our communication expert took the stage to share insights on how the project supports the transformation of the agrifood sector and the way food supplies are tracked, monitored and recorded.

To suit the action to the word, these networking events aim to further ground TRUSTyFOOD’s “stakeholders-driven pathways for blockchain implementation in agri-food sector”. Or in the words of our Communication Expert:

In a user-centric approach, we engage stakeholders along the agri-food chains to define together the needs, requirements and strategies for future blockchain technology implementation. Our aim is to understand how blockchain technology might be used in efforts to sustainably transform the food system and, ultimately, to produce a roadmap able to provide the pathway for making it happen.

TRUSTyFOOD itself is implemented by a consortium of stakeholders with 12 partners of which 30% represent the industry, 46% are academic institutes, and 23% are farmers and agri-food user associations.
