Rural Roads Activity
Description
The U.S. government represented by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the Government of Burkina Faso signed on July 14, 2008, an agreement of $ 480.9 million dollars, whose overall objective is to reduce the state of rural poverty and increase revenue by supporting economic growth induced by the agricultural sector. Achieving this goal depends on the implementation of four key projects: Rural Land, Agriculture Development, areas opening up and Schools development. The Compact entered into force July 31, 2009 and ends July 30, 2014.
Project Objectives
The specific objective of the survey is to provide the necessary elements to develop an impact study that will assess whether the project has succeeded in opening:
- Improve access to agricultural markets, especially during the rainy season by the upgrading of sections of main roads and rural roads
- Improve access to basic social and economic infrastructure
- Increase the volume and value of goods transported
- Reducing travel time to market and reduce vehicle operating costs
- Ensuring the sustainability of the road network by ensuring the maintenance of roads.

- Develop project operational plan to implement four different type of survey during the dry and wet season.

Implementation
- Development of the study conceptual framework, definition of research tools and process methodology, sample selection, pre-test on the field, preparation of the analytical framework for the overall results integration
- Collect and review all previous report or data on road traffic and economic impact
Field work
- Design training programme
