Potable Water Management Programme (PWMP) in Upper Egypt (Phase 2)

Service provision at the utility level

Description

PWMP Phase 2 focuses on the Aswan Water and Sanitation Company and poor neighborhoods in the city of Aswan (i.e. El Sail area, with optional expansion to Kima Ezbas area; situated adjacent to each other in the northeastern part of Aswan city), close to the neighborhood of Khor Awada which was targeted with PWMP Phase 1, from 2019 to 2021; and to El Nasriya which was in the focus of a previous single-phase project (from 2012 to 2016, with a total budget of CHF 4.65 million).

PWMP intends to improve potable water management and service provision at the utility level in Aswan, to provide equal access to a reliable potable water supply system for the inhabitants of the targeted poor neighborhoods and to promote the adoption of efficient water use measures among the inhabitants.

The Programme consists of 3 components:

  • Technical Assistance & Governance
  • Infrastructure, and
  • Public Awareness and Outreach.
