Support to the Implementation of the National Strategy for the Advancement of Bahraini Women

Within the cooperation framework cooperation and dialogue between UNDP Bahrain CO and the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Women (CCW) for the implementation of the national strategy for the advancement of Bahraini women, NSCE assisted in conducting a focused economic empowerment program targeting women and recommendation of comprehensive detailed business and action plans to advise on possible ways to strengthen institutional capabilities for implementing, monitoring, measuring and evaluating economic empowerment for women programs within selected partners and specially the Supreme Council for Women that deals primarily with the empowerment of women.

NSCE consultant planned and carried out an assessment of the existing national economic development policies and plans, on-going national relevant programs and the institutional capacity of the key institutional stakeholders to execute the five-year national strategy implementation plan in the following key areas:
- increase women participation in the labor market;
- increase the participation of women as entrepreneurs or business owners in the private sector;
- improve productivity of home based workers; and
- improve economic opportunities for women with special needs.
As a result of the assessment, conclusions and recommendations were provided about strategic opportunities, specifically in relation with the current national labor reform program and to increase women participation in the private sector through professional competencies development.
