Building the Skills and Capacity of Small and Micro-enterprises Clients of the MFIs partners of the PRECAMF Project
Description
The Sectorial Goal of the Government in its fight against poverty is facilitate access of economically active poor to viable and sustainable financial services. The National Strategy toward this goal revolves around three levels of engagement:
- Accelerate economic growth while strengthening macroeconomic stability
- Anchor economic growth in the economic sphere of the vulnerable groups
- Promote the rapid development of human resources.
The government has developed an action plan to achieve the second of the above-mentioned component, which aims to:
- Increase/improve the supply from the microfinance providers
- Increase the demand for financial services.
The Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training has set up an action aiming at improving the quality of loan applications by increasing the business management knowledge and skills of the small and micro-entrepreneurs, clients of the micro-finance institutions (MFIs) partners of the “Strengthening the capacity of actors in the micro-finance sector” (PRECAMF) Project.
This project has the objective to provide a target audience of about 20,000 small and micro-entrepreneurs (SMEs), clients of the MFIs partners the basics of accounting and business knowledge and skills, along with credit and financial literacy covering the main concepts and terms of money management, and the key principles of quality management.
The specific objectives of this project as detailed in the ToRs are to:
- Encourage the entrepreneurial spirit, investments and growth among the small and micro-entrepreneurs in the informal economy
- Facilitate the exchange of experiences, views and information among small and micro-entrepreneurs
- Enhance the micro-entrepreneurs’ business management knowledge, skills, entrepreneurial spirit enabling them to move up the scale and scope of their business from micro-enterprise of the informal sector to small enterprises in formal economy.
It is indeed through the promotion and development of the micro-enterprises that the State means to boost employment and income-generating activities for the most vulnerable populations.
Services
Stage 1: Development of the training program (Training Needs Assessment)
- Identify and assess the training needs required to enhance the skills and management capacity of the micro-enterprises clients of the partnering MFIs,
- Select and adjust the training methods and techniques appropriate for the training objectives and outcomes,
- Adapt the training manuals to the specific needs of both the trainers and the trainees,
- Test the training modules and provide amendment accordingly.
Stage 2: Implement the training programs through its various modules
- Conduct training moduleson business knowledge and skills, along with credit and financial literacy & accounting
