NGO Service Center (NGO SC): Gender Institutionalization

Advancing the gender dialogue

Description

The NGO Service Center (NGO SC) in Egypt is a developmental activity that aimed to increase the participation of citizens, through Nongovernmental Organizations (NGOs), in development decision-making. The Center was sponsored by the Egyptian Ministry of Insurance and Social Affairs (MISA), now know as the Ministry of Social Solidarity (MoSS), and was funded for five years by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The Center transitioned into the Egyptian NGO Support Center.

The Egyptian NGO Support Center is a membership-based NGO founded by prominent figures of the civil society in Egypt, in order to thus carry on the legacy of the NGO Service Center funded by USAID (2000-2005).  The ENGOSC, through its Board of Directors and a staff of top notch experts, pledged to continue to provide Egyptian NGOs technical support, resources and information to strengthen the Civil Society, in order to perform an effective role as a full partner in the socio-economic development of Egypt.
