Description
The evaluation aims at measuring the impact of the Family Bank on the development of Micro enterprises and assessing if the tools and activities chosen are the most pertinent and effective ones. The evaluation will provide the management/stakeholders of the Family Bank, with sufficient information to:
- Make an overall independent assessment about the past performance of the Bank, paying particularly attention to the impact of the Bank against its objectives;
- Identify key lessons and to propose practical recommendations for future actions.
Therefore, the main objectives is
- to measure the progress of the Family Bank in meeting the overall objectives of SMDF as a sustainable microfinance institution and
- to measure the extent to which the work of the Family Bank has so far positively impacted the socioeconomic conditions of the target group thereby contributing to overall poverty reduction in Sudan.

Inception & Field Phase
- Evaluation using the DAC (Development Assistance Committee) evaluation criteria: Relevance, Effectiveness, Efficiency, Impact, and sustainability.
- An assessment of the Bank’s strategy and activities in the field of visibility, information and communication.
- Verifying, analyzing and assessing the integration and impact of cross cutting issue in the Bank use the following methodologies:
- a rapid appraisal through a field visit and a series of interviews
- a questionnaire survey involving a sample of beneficiaries
- a series of focus groups involving beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries
- a series of case studies
