Agricultural Extension Services & Access to Finance (A2F)
Description
The overall objective of the assignment is to conduct the field work for the village level case studies (combining qualitative and quantitative information) to assess the impact of local interventions/programs on income levels and human development in 3 governorates aiming at:
- introducing/shifting towards higher value-added crop production,
- improving the quality of agricultural support services,
- improving access to financial services (micro-credit) and information saving mechanisms.
The overall objective of the Upper Egypt Shared Growth Study is therefore to help the Government of Egypt (at both the central and local levels) to improve living conditions in Rural Upper Egypt and reduce the income gap in this region by identifying the constraints to shared growth, quantifying the effect of removal of these constrains on poverty and social and human development, and based on these propose prioritized interventions to maximize their impact.
While the study will built upon what is known about the constraints to growth in this region, it will also include village level case studies assessing the impact of several projects and interventions that are currently implemented by the Government, civil society and donors at the village level, where their effects are already visible.
