Description
The project objective was a reduced and more rational use of water at on-farm and system levels. Water savings, greater equity in water deliveries, and water security (i.e. timeliness, reliability and adequacy of deliveries), benefitted the project area inhabitants in the form of both lower expenses and higher incomes. It was clear from the IIIMP development objectives that the partners co-operating to establish IIIMP were convinced that institutional reform (participatory management, decentralization and integration) and system improvements constituted the means to achieve the above project objective, while safeguarding the environment was a key concern.
