Agriculture & Rural Development
Enhancing resource-efficient crop production and strengthening the institutional capacity of farmers’ organisations (FOs) and agricultural cooperatives are core to sustainable agricultural development. For this, NSCE focuses on agricultural value chain analyses, agricultural extension and capacity building of smallholder farmers on climate-smart agriculture & good agricultural practices. The Farmer Field School (FFS) approach, on-site/on-the-job learning, and demo sites are put forward as key learning approaches. In addition, NSCE has a portfolio of promoting innovative and inclusive rural economies. By valorising and protecting local rural assets (environment, landscapes, culture, heritage, local (agro-)foods and handicrafts), our team aims to strengthen the capacity of local rural dwellers, especially youth and women, to develop and deliver fair trade market-oriented value-added products and services.
