The National Drainage Programme 3 and the Joint Integrated Sector Approach (NDP3/JISA) is this year again represented at the Cairo Water Week (CWW) 2025 with two sessions. On October 14, the session gives an overview of the NDP3/JISA Programme, while the day after, on October 15, NDP3/JISA takes a closer look at “Integrating Gender in Water Resources Projects”.

Cairo Water Week 2025 Final Announcement:

The National Drainage Programme (phase 3) in the framework of the Joint Integrated Sector Approach for investment planning in the water sector (NDP3/JISA) is to support socio-economic development in Egypt by generating and strengthening sustainable economic activity and, therefore, contributing to the improvement of the country’s food security measures. Giveaways for the project will raise awareness and help improve project visibility between internal and external stakeholders. The project has been implemented by the Egyptian Public Authority for Drainage Projects, affiliated with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, for over seven years (2020-2026) and is funded by the Egyptian government, the German Development bank (KfW), and the European Union.

Project: National Drainage Programme III

Besides the session on NDP3/JISA, the programme also takes a closer look at gender mainstreaming. The concept note of the Gender Session reads:

Gender equality and inclusion are fundamental requirements for the EU, KfW and all international donors, the National Drainage Programme 3 and the Joint Integrated Sector Approach (NDP3/JISA) project is keen to ensure these principles are fully integrated into its activities. The session is dedicated to ensure all project staff, stakeholders, and beneficiaries understand and effectively implement these principles. It will highlight how proactive adherence to these requirements enhances. It’s a great opportunity to increase the project’s visibility and raise awareness among our eight implementing agencies during Cairo Water Week.
