Youth Employment in the Building and Construction Sector
Description
The main objective of the study was to create better employability of the Egyptian youngsters in the building and construction sector. The purpose of the study was to conduct a training needs assessment and select sector’s trades and subjects for short and long term training programmes for youngsters to be recruited.
It aimed at assisting the Building and Construction Project in designing market responsive training program / fine-tuning the project interventions by providing an insight on the needs of construction sector in the following main areas:
- Type of trades and skills needed.
- Type and level of skills (single or multi-skilled).
- Willingness of the company to participate and contribute in the training program.
- Period of the training compatible with the company needs.
- Employability after training.
- Educational, age and entrance level of applicants.
Services
- Examine the supply and demand sides of the market and through analyzing the data, be able to present recommendations to the MKI-B&C to design a market responsive training program.
- Identify companies willing to participate and contribute in the “dual system” of MKI-B&C and to assess the training compatible with the companies’ needs.
- Identify types of trades, skills needed and the use of single or multi-skilled workers.
- Locate affordable training places in studied trades.
- Identify the suitable age, education, and entrance level of applicants and the employability of MKI-B&C graduates after training
