Cooperation on Migration Governance through Institutional Support

NSCE signed the “Cooperation on Migration Governance through Institutional Support ” project’s contract with the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), under an EU delegated implementation agreement to the Spanish Government.

The objectives of this project are to promote a rights-based migration governance system and to combat and mitigate the vulnerabilities caused by irregular migration.

The project will tackle several aspects of migration through its multitude of activities which include public awareness campaigns, training sessions for the migration coordination authorities and other important agents within the sector’s framework, migration data availability enhancement activities including the improvement of data collection systems and studies, as well as exchange visits with the Spanish counterparts.


MENA Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) at the time of COVID 19 multi-country/regional Evaluation

NSCE won the MENA Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) at the time of COVID 19 multi-country/regional Evaluation project launched by UNICEF.

The evaluation will target four countries in the MENA region which are Egypt, Yemen, Morocco, and Lebanon with the purpose of identifying key drivers of high performing country offices. The evaluation will gather and analyze information from different sources to allow for an impartial reflection on the implementation of UNICEF country offices’ response to COVID-19 in the region related to influencing key behaviors, whose outcome will be used as a guide for future actions for RCCE in the MENA region.


Egypt: GCF GEFF NBE Green SME Loan Project

The project developed by EBRD, supported by the green climate fund and European Union,the project is jointly implemented by Stantec and NSCE starting July 2020 through 2023.

The project is the operation of a loan of up to EUR 100 million from the EBRD through the Participating Financial Institution (PFI) and the National Bank of Egypt (NBE). The facility aims to support SME borrowers to make energy and resource efficiency investments that would allow them to become more sustainable as well as increase their competitiveness. The project’s approach is also gender sensitive, with an integrated gender and social inclusion action plan. The project will be implemented starting July 2020 through 2023.

The project’s activities include:

  • Establishment and standardization of an operations manual and quality assurance manual;
  • Conducting a gender baseline assessment and corresponding gender action plan;
  • Marketing strategy and plan to engage SMEs and promote the credit line;
  • Training for PFI (NBE) through a training and capacity building program;
  • Training on product development;
  • Monitoring of the facility through assessment reports.

Egypt Value Chain Project

The project developed by EBRD, supported by the green climate fund and European Union,the project is jointly implemented by Stantec and NSCE starting February 2020 and ending in February 2024.

EBRD is launching, through the Green Value Chain project, a loan facility that will be extended through PFIs of up to EUR 70 million to eligible SMEs. Through the facility, SMEs eligible for loan agreements will be supported in innovation processes and production as well as their abilities to become more resource and energy-efficient, which would allow them to contribute to advanced local and export markets and the overall improvement of value chains in Egypt. The project is being jointly implemented by Stantec and NSCE starting February 2020 and ending in February 2024.

The project’s activities include:

  • The establishment of operational guidelines, tools and quality assurance manuals;
  • Marketing and awareness-raising activities to promote the facility and added value of green value chain investments, such as increased competitiveness, profitability, and reduced environmental impact;
  • Training for participating financial institutions, vendors and suppliers in the technology sector and seminars and workshops with relevant NGOs in SME financing;
  • Sub-projects assessment methodology and monitoring of the facility through assessment reports;
  • Product development with PFIs;
  • Excellence awards for best sub-projects.

ورشة عمل “تعزيز الحكم الرشيد والمساوة بين الجنسين فى المنظمات الزراعية فى قطاع النباتات الطبية والعطرية فى الفيوم

نظمت فى الفترة من 2- 3 نوفمبر 2015 بالتعاون مع منظمة الاغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة (FAO) أعمال ورشة عمل “تعزيز الحكم الرشيد والمساوة بين الجنسين فى المنظمات الزراعية فى قطاع النباتات الطبية والعطرية فى الفيوم”.

ونظمت الورشة منظمة الاغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة بالتعاون مع شركة “مستشارو التبادل بين الشمال والجنوب” وذلك لمناقشة نتائج الدراسة التى تم إجراؤها وخطة العمل لإنتاج النوع الاجتماعى وتمكين المرأة من خلال سلاسل القيمة ومنظمات المنتجين لتحقيق التنمية المستدامة والشاملة فى مصر. وحضر الورشة ممثلى وزارة الزراعة والصندوق الاجتماعى للتنمية بالفيوم ورؤساء الجمعيات الاهلية العاملة فى مجال الزراعات العضوية بمحافظة الفيوم.


“Gender Sensitive Value Chain Analysis on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs)” Workshop 2-3 November 2015

This workshop was conducted by Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN in collaboration with North South Consultants Exchange. The event took place on 2-3 November 2015 at Fayoum Governorate with support and presence of FAO representatives and Ministry of Agriculture and local authorities and NGOs in the Governorate. Furthermore, the event was supported by the attendance of all value chain segments such as exporters, traders, preprocessors, processors and farmers and producers organizations.
